The first few days of any new routine are the hardest. The good news is that most of what makes a reset feel easy happens before you start: a stocked kitchen, a simple plan, and a clear idea of how your days will run.
This guide covers what to do in the week before day one, so you can start calm and organised instead of scrambling.
The week before: set up your space
Spend a little time this week clearing out what you won't use and stocking up on what you will.
Clear the kitchen
You don't need to throw everything out. Just move the processed snacks, sugary drinks and takeaway menus out of sight, so the easy option is the healthy one.
Do a fresh shop
Stock up on the basics you'll reach for every day:
- Fresh vegetables and leafy greens
- Seasonal fruit
- Lemons, for your morning water
- Wholefoods like nuts, seeds and legumes
- Himalayan or sea salt
Sort your water
If you don't already have one, get a water filter jug or a good reusable bottle. You'll be drinking a lot of water, so make it easy and enjoyable.
Look at your calendar
Check the next six weeks for birthdays, trips or big work weeks. You don't have to avoid them, but knowing they're coming means you can plan around them.
Set up your daily routine
The easiest routines are the ones tied to things you already do every day.
- Pick your times. Read through the program booklet and decide when each step fits into your day, such as with breakfast or before bed.
- Keep everything visible. Store your supplements and booklet somewhere you'll see them every morning, like next to the kettle.
- Set reminders. A couple of phone alarms for the first week help until the routine becomes automatic.
- Plan a few meals ahead. Even three or four go-to meals for the first week takes the daily guesswork out of eating well.
- Start a simple journal. A notebook or a note on your phone, with a line a day about your energy, sleep and mood.
Get your mindset and support ready
Go in aiming for consistency, not perfection, and let the people around you know what you're doing.
- Expect a few off days. Missing a step or having a takeaway night doesn't undo your progress. Just pick it back up the next day.
- Tell your household. It's much easier when the people you live with know what you're doing, and even better if someone joins you.
- Know your why. Write down why you're doing the reset and keep it in your journal for the days your motivation dips.
Check in with your doctor first
Before starting, have a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, take regular medication, or have an existing health condition. Some supplements can affect how medications are absorbed, so they can help you time things safely.
Your before-you-start checklist
Tick these off and you're ready for day one.
